Well produced with full color reproductions, many of them full page, on coated stock, this catalogue vividly brings to life an exciting and important exhibit sponsored by the Onassis Foundation USA at their NYC galleries. Documenting an exhibit which featured exceptional loans from collections in Greece, Italy, Russia, the USA and Canada, the volume includes references, glossary and timeline (although, unfortunately, not an index). It continues to be an important reference for the insights it brought to many of used to viewing El Greco in galleries hung with Spanish paintings and makes real influences on his creativity we more often speak of than actually see.
